Summer Internship Funding
CID awards modest grants on a competitive basis to first year MPA/ID students who undertake summer internships on development projects through the Harvard International Development Internship Fund (HIDIF). Applications open March 1, 2024 at noon.
Grant Criteria and Eligibility:
- Competition is open to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø first year MPA/ID students.
- Internship must be on a development related issue.
- Priority will be given to students who have secured an internship in a country other than their own.
- Priority will be given to students who have secured an internship in the public or nonprofit sector with an organization whose work reflects the public service commitment of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
- Internship must be 8 weeks or longer at one organization.
Application deadline:
- 1st review: March 22, 2024, 12 pm (ET)
- 2nd review: April, 19, 2024, 12 pm (ET)
- Subsequent reviews will be offered at a schedule TBD for internships secured after initial review periods

Summer Programs Online Application (available via KNET’s link above)
- Statement of Purpose and Description of confirmed internship (up to 500 words)
- Detailed budget (including daily expenses such as food and local transportation; housing; visas and immunizations (when needed); cost of airfare to the location of your intended internship site).
- Current CV
- Proof of Offer: Sponsor Letter from the organization for which you will be working
ALL APPLICANTS must also complete the following documents:
- HIDIF Award Agreement (once notified of award)
- Assumption of Risk (once notified of award)
In the event a student is awarded from HIDIF, submission of these documents ensure that the award checks are processed prior to departure for the internship.
Without these documents, we do not guarantee funding in a timely manner.
