I am interested in the political economy of authoritarianism in the Middle East with an emphasis on labor policy, welfare, and foreign aid. I have also worked on issues of refugee integration into the labor market and social policy. My dissertation project focuses on how governments implement politically unpopular economic reforms as required by the IMF, World Bank, and other international financial institutions.
