This year, the Center for Public Leadership launched the new David Gergen Summer Fellowship, a program designed to foster pathways to public service for emerging leaders by enabling meaningful summer internships in public service and leadership. Honoring the legacy of CPL’s Founding Director David Gergen, the fellowship cultivates a new generation of leaders who are committed to public service, leadership, and the pursuit of the greater good by supporting. The fellowship provides summer internships, mentorship, and academic year programming that connect lessons learned in the classroom with practical leadership experience.
This summer, the inaugural class of the David Gergen Summer Fellows took on transformative roles across various sectors, from crafting digital governance policy solutions with international organizations like the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to leading local economic policy development for the City of Detroit. Read the 2024 David Gergen Summer Fellows’ reflections on their summer internships below.
The diverse experiences of the inaugural fellows exemplify the program's commitment to fostering versatile, adaptive, and effective public leaders.
