More than half of the global population has already urbanized, and at least two billion people are expected to urbanized in the next two decades. Urban agglomerations are commonly known for providing clean water and sanitation, job opportunities, and infrastructure. However, the distribution of these benefits has been uneven, leaving significant gaps in access, quality and sustainability across different regions. Tackling appropriately the urbanization, globalization, climate change and economic challenges is probably the most consequential task for the survival of our societies and democracies.
