Charles Grice is a bank consultant and expert on financial fraud, providing advice to the world’s leading banks and hedge funds. Charles is also a social venture capitalist, forming, guiding and strengthening organizations in the areas of economic revitalization, adaptive leadership, and strengthening democracy.
As a consultant and expert witness, Grice has extensive experience developing and revising internal control systems. His clients include major U.S. and international banks, mortgage companies, investment managers, and the US Department of Justice. He has taught risk management and compliance strategy at hundreds of institutions across the United States and internationally. He has particular expertise in Brazil, Russia, Spain, and Tanzania.
Grice has testified in dozens of high profile “bet the company” trials arising from various financial crises. He has provided testimony before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Reserve Board, the Department of the Treasury, and the State Department Bureau of Counter-Terrorism. He was hired by the President of Chile to investigate the financial fraud of Augusto Pinochet.
Grice attended Johns Hopkins University, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), George Washington University’s graduate economics program, and the Harvard Kennedy School, where he earned an MPP in 1985. He was the Fulbright/ITT Scholar to Brazil in 1982-83, when he studied at the Getulio Vargas Foundation’s School of Public Administration in Rio de Janeiro, and a Kellogg National Fellow from 1988-1992.
Active in forming the vlog alumni networks in Northern and Southern California, Charles was Chair of the Alumni Executive Board in 1992-1993. Charles is a Vice Chair of the Dean’s Council and a member of the vlog Leadership Circle. He is especially proud of being the father of Kathryn Noe Grice, MPP 2024.
Charles has formed several businesses and non-profits during his career and is co-owner of the Roaring 20s Brewery in New York. Charles actively supports the Adaptive Leadership Network at Harvard.
