Fiona Sinclair is a barrister-at-law and philanthropist. She is also an accredited mediator and arbitrator and is involved in negotiation and conflict training. She has had extensive experience in community organizations and has been a director on not-for-profit and government boards. Fiona strives to promote and advance the health, education and status of women and girls.
Fiona mentors female students who wish to become lawyers. As a Trustee of the Australian Museum Foundation Fiona mentors young women who have a love of science and learning and is developing a Lecture Series to empower Women in Science.
She is involved in a grass roots project in Sydney to raise funds for ovarian cancer research. Fiona is an advocate for aiming to improve the health, education and welfare of Australian indigenous people, mentoring women in isolated communities such as the women who live in the Murray Islands in the Torres Strait. She is on a working group for the Women of Mabo 2022 to celebrate the important role of indigenous women. She is in discussions to assist with community justice projects in isolated indigenous communities. She is involved in outreach programs for migrant women and volunteers for the Refugee and Advice Casework Service.
Fiona is an Ambassador for Same Sky, an international charity which gives women a hand up rather than a hand out so that they and their communities can have a better future. She has been a Director of UNICEF Australia and UNICEF Australia Health, the East Area Director of the Salvation Army and has been involved with the National Association against Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and Good Beginnings, an organization which educates and assists young disadvantaged mothers. She has also worked at the Australian Red Cross (NSW) promoting human rights and advocating international law issues such as lobbying against then government policy of keeping children of asylum seekers in compulsory detention.
Fiona was a democratically elected local government representative for almost 10 years and during that time worked to improve social and welfare services for women and children.
