Keith Calix is pursuing an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he recently earned a certificate in Public Management and Social Innovation. Keith’s upbringing and social sector experience fuel his passion for transforming economic and educational outcomes for historically underserved populations. After earning his undergraduate degree in international relations with honors from Stanford University, Keith furthered his understanding of policies that can improve learning outcomes for all children at the Annie E. Casey Foundation. At Casey, he assisted in the strategic management of the national Kids Count program and co-led the grantee selection process in Missouri and Puerto Rico. As a Chief of Staff at the Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation, Keith designed philanthropy education materials and managed grantmaking to strengthen inclusivity and opportunity for underrepresented populations in the technology sector. Keith continued his career in mission-driven work as a teacher and teacher leader at E.L. Haynes High School in Washington, DC. At Haynes, he spearheaded his team’s family engagement with Spanish-speaking families. In 2021, he was selected as a mayoral appointee to the inaugural DC Education Research Collaborative, where he partnered with education leaders to inform DC’s education agenda and improve learning outcomes for the city’s most at-risk students. Keith is eager to develop a new modus operandi for educational investment that advances the learning and life outcomes of underserved youth and families.
Keith is supported by funding through the Lisa Garcia Quiroz Graduate Fellowship.
