Lucas is an MBA/MPP joint degree student focused on building the safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation options that create the possibility for communities that are dense, vibrant, and accessible. During the summer of 2024, Lucas worked at Brightline, a company building the U.S.’s first electrified high-speed passenger rail system. The previous summer, Lucas interned at the U.S. Department of Transportation, working on projects for the Federal Transit Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology. While in school, Lucas published op-eds in CommonWealth Magazine and The Harvard Crimson and has conducted research for the Salata Institute, the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, and the City of Boston’s New Mobility team. Lucas has served as a transportation policy advisor for several political campaigns and currently leads a cross-Harvard initiative to improve the University’s public transportation and bikeshare benefits and policies. After graduation, Lucas hopes to work on building world-class public transportation and intercity passenger rail systems in the United States.
