A clinical psychologist by profession, Dr. Maureen Gaffney worked for many years in Trinity College Dublin as Director of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. Over the past 10 years she has divided her time between her own consultancy business and a number of state and other boards. She has served as Chair of the National Economic and Social Forum, advising government on issues of equality and social exclusion and a member of the board of the Health Service Executive, which runs the National Health Service. She served as a law reform commissioner for 10 years, is a former chair of the Council of the Insurance Ombudsman of Ireland, and has served on a number of other boards. She runs her own consultancy business specializing in leadership development, emotional intelligence, managing diversity and executive coaching. A well-known broadcaster, writer and columnist, she’s listed in Who’s Who in Ireland, has been profiled a number of times in the Irish national media, and has been listed by two national newspapers as one of the 50 most influential women in Ireland. She is patron of the Hope Foundation, president of the Dublin County Choir, and is a former member of the Central Council of the Irish Red Cross Society. Gaffney earned her BA in psychology at University College Cork, her MA in behavioral sciences at the University of Chicago, and her PhD at Trinity College Dublin.
