Raj Rana is a Swiss citizen, born and raised in Canada. Graduated as an architect (B. ARCH, M. ARCH), he made the obvious next steps into a short military career including service as a UN peacekeeper, a decade with the International Committee of the Red Cross and subsequently setting up his own consulting firm. His consulting work included working across public, private and not- for-profit sectors, working from deep field to boardroom, collaborating on responses to accelerate meaningful progress in addressing peace and conflict, the environment and achievement of the SDGs. Working with Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs he has completed a secondment to a Malian institution supporting AU and ECOWAS and now serves as the Senior Peace and Human Rights Advisor for the Swiss Embassy in Myanmar. He leads programs and processes aimed at preventing violence, promoting dialogue and peace, respect for human rights and IHL. These frontline contexts continually challenge him to make sense of battling climate change, peace and security priorities, built atop existing issues of poverty, marginalisation, limited livelihood opportunities and weak governance. Raj isa Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) and a graduate of the University of Cambridge Sustainable Business programme (PCSB). He lives in Yangon, Myanmar since 2022 with his wife and two children.
