Shashwat will intern in the Civil Society Liaison unit of the UN Network on Migration secretariat within the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva, Switzerland. This role will involve engaging global civil society and stakeholders with the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM).
Shashwat will conduct focused research and mapping of private sector businesses, academia, and parliamentarians who support migrant inclusion and provide support during network meetings. An emphasis of the role will be on supporting the anti-discrimination work of the UN Network on Migration, including the coordination of two UN agencies (UNDP and UN Women) and two civil society organizations (AFFORD and Gender + Migration Hub). In addition, Shashwat will contribute to communications efforts, such as drafting global stakeholder announcements, coordinating submissions to a newsletter, and organizing logistics for consultations. The internal mapping produced during the internship will guide an engagement strategy aimed at championing migrant inclusion and the GCM.
