This summer, Stuti will intern with the Mayor's Delivery Unit (MDU) in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to monitor, evaluate, and strengthen gender indicators in the city. As part of a 2-person team along with Harvard Kennedy School MPP student Esther Hallsdottir, she will work closely with the Mayor's Chief of Staff and Team Lead of the MDU, as well as with the Social Welfare and Gender Department of the City Council, to adopt a data-driven approach to evaluate the gendered impacts of the #TransformFreetown agenda. Her role includes developing key performance metrics related to gender, conducting qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the programs, and developing a sustainable monitoring framework of key gender indicators. The project's scope will span the 11 priority areas identified by Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr as part of #TransformFreetown. These are broadly classified into 4 clusters: Resilience, Human Development, Healthy Cities, and Urban Mobility. Additionally, Stuti will identify gender gaps in existing programs, find opportunities for amplifying impact, and recommend policy proposals to improve the lives of women and girls in Freetown.
