Sadie Harlan MPA 2025

A proud Kentuckian, Sadie is passionate about expanding access to high quality education. Before graduate school, she worked for —an initiative of First Lady Michelle Obama and subsidiary of Common App—where she focused on reducing college application barriers for underrepresented students. After Sadie (sadly) graduates in May, she hopes to help build a higher education sector that works for students.

What motivated you to become a Graduate Student Ambassador?

I am deeply passionate about expanding access to higher education. Before coming to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, I spent years thinking of this school as a space I could never dream of accessing. As a Graduate Student Ambassador, I hope to pay forward all the guidance, support, and encouragement I got from others to see myself here and finally take the leap to apply.

What are you looking forward to most as a student ambassador?

The student tours! I am so excited to meet prospective and admitted students in person and help bring their future as an ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø student to life through the classrooms, common spaces, and favorite spots at the school.

What advice would you give students interested in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø?

The best advice I have is to start your application early so that you can review your essays ahead of time. Your essays are an opportunity to show who you are outside of your résumé/CV. It should express a distinct narrative that is emotive and engaging.
