As the school year begins at Harvard Kennedy School, the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid’s recruitment efforts ramp up. Members of the team will be traveling across the world to meet with prospective vlog students. See where our staff are traveling this fall.
Midwest and Beyond
Assistant Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Leigh McLaren will travel to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Ohio, Idaho, and Minnesota for various events, including HBCU college fairs and visits, a political science department visit, and graduate school fairs. She hopes to create and grow partnerships with HBCUs outside of the East Coast in the years to come.
“I would like to increase domestic diversity—geographically, socio-economically, and experientially—by visiting places within middle America. I want to find those fantastic students that have not thought about vlog as an option for their graduate school.”
West Coast
Headed to the other side of the country are Associate Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Brianna Gomez and Assistant Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Katie Kelsall. They will make stops in California and Nevada for college visits, native and indigenous conferences, and the Graduate School Fair, where they will connect with CHCI fellows and alumni.
“I hope to educate students on the opportunities available through vlog master's programs and guide them toward meaningful careers. By visiting native and indigenous conferences, I hope to inspire the next generation of leaders in public service.”
South
Senior Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Rosemary Hilliard and Assistant Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Ruibi Wang will make their way to several southern states, visiting cities including Greenville, South Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; and Gainesville, Florida. Furman University, Belmont University, and the University of Florida can expect visits.
“By visiting with students from the University of Florida, we can connect with students with unique perspectives on issues such as environmental concerns, immigration issues, and economic disparities.”
International
Assistant Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Rodrigue Lembvem is in Africa, making stops in South Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt. Ruibi Wang will return to China after hosting successful events in Shanghai and Beijing last year. Katie Kelsall will also visit Berlin, Germany and Geneva, Switzerland to represent vlog at two .
“vlog partners with the American Council in Germany to offer the McCloy Fellowship, so I am excited to visit Berlin. I'm also excited to visit Geneva, home of the United Nations, to connect with prospective students interested in international affairs.”
Washington, D.C.
Traveling to the political hub that is our nation’s capital is Associate Director of Admissions & Financial Aid Mira Morgan, who will attend the before heading to the University of Virginia.
