Nicaraguan businessperson and Harvard Kennedy School alumnus Ernesto Fernández-Holmann MPA 1966 PhD 1968 has generously established a fellowship fund to help exceptional students from Nicaragua attend the Kennedy School. These scholarships, which will be known as the Ernesto Fernández-Holmann Graduate Fellowships, will be awarded to MPP, MPA, or MPA/ID students who have been admitted to the School. Preference will be given to students who are pursuing a concurrent MBA.

The first fellowships will be awarded to qualifying students for the 2017–2018 academic year. To be considered, interested applicants should complete a financial aid application.

Fernández-Holmann is the chair of Grupo Ayucus. Previously, he founded Grupo Financiero Uno, a commercial bank providing financial services in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. He served as chair and CEO of the company until it was acquired by Citgroup in 2007.
