Jesus Viejo

Dr. Viejo is the founder and Chairman of Trefilia Capital, a Family Office launched in 2013. Trefilia has a portfolio of both direct investments and investments in VC and P/E funds. Sectorial interests include, but are not limited to, Consumer Products, Financial Institutions, and Hospitality.

Since 2007, Dr. Viejo has been a Member of the Board of Arca Continental, Coca Cola’s third-largest bottling franchise worldwide. He is also the Technical Secretary of Consejo Nuevo León, an advisory council to the Governor of the State of Nuevo León in charge, by constitutional mandate, of the state´s long-term strategic planning. Dr. Viejo was deeply involved in the council’s design and creation.

In the nonprofit/philanthropic sector he has focused his time to higher education; he is a member of the Board of Directors of Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), a member of the Advisory Board in Mexico of Harvard’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, a member of Harvard Kennedy School’s Dean’s Council, and a member of CID’s Global Development Council at Harvard University.

As a professional economist, Dr. Viejo served as Vice President of Economic Research for Emerging Markets in Goldman Sachs in New York and as the Chief Economist in Grupo Alfa in Monterrey.

Dr. Viejo holds an economics degree from ITESM, a Master in Public Policy degree from Harvard University, and a PhD in economics from Boston University. He enjoys the outdoors and is a veteran marathon runner. He lives in Monterrey, Mexico, with his wife, Cristina, and their three daughters, Ana Sofia, Marifer, and Carolina.
