My research interests center on exploring how states and non-state actors strategically use healthcare to achieve political objectives and under what circumstances these strategies are successful. Specifically, I am interested in understanding how healthcare is used as a foreign policy tool by states and the impacts of health aid on political and economic outcomes. Additionally, I study the role of healthcare in settings of violent conflict to analyze factors that influence whether combatants protect or target healthcare providers.
