Professor Marco Di Maggio, finance professor at Imperial College London and formerly Ogunlesi professor of business administration at Harvard Business School and director of the Fintech, Crypto, and Web3 Lab at Harvard Business School, argues that the crypto industry is at a crossroads. The decisions made in the coming years, particularly about regulation, will determine whether digital assets become mainstream or remain a niche market. “In the next couple of years, we are going to see more and more of an integration between traditional financial markets and the underlying technology of blockchain—including more than just cryptocurrencies,” Di Maggio says. Di Maggio believes that if the U.S. government establishes a clear and predictable regulatory framework for crypto, it could strengthen the country’s position as a global leader in digital assets."
