Join the Harvard Center for International Development (CID) for our Road to GEM speaker series to hear academics and practitioners discuss current development issues, recent projects, and their experiences with AI. Dr. Chinasa T. Okolo is an internationally recognized researcher, strategist, and policy advisor on AI governance in the Global South. She is a Fellow in the Center for Technology Innovation within the Governance Studies program at The Brookings Institution. This talk examines the burgeoning AI and data governance landscape in Africa, analyzing the impact of AI on democratic processes, outlining best measures for data governance policy reform, and delineating priorities to democratize African participation in global AI governance.
