Matthew Alper
Matthew Alper, senior associate dean for research policy and administration, oversees the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Research Administration Office (RAO). In that role, he is responsible for managing the review and approval of all faculty grant and contract proposals, advising the dean, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø research centers and programs, and members of the faculty on all aspects of research administration and related areas of compliance and risk management. Matt manages the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø faculty outside professional activity and conflict of interest reporting process, and reviews and approves all ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø research fellow nominations on behalf of the academic deans’ office. The RAO also supports faculty research dissemination by managing the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Faculty Papers and Publications Collection and the Faculty Research Working Papers Series.
Matt has been at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø since 2000 and before that he spent many years in research administration roles at Harvard Medical School, the Harvard School of Public Health, and Boston University. He has a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in public policy from Tufts University. He is married with two adult children and enjoys playing the saxophone in his spare time.
