Inter- and intra-judge inconsistencies are rife throughout the system and have been found to be key source of racial disparities in criminal case outcomes, from bail to sentencing. Might regular feedback and learning opportunities, public report cards, and judge decision aids lead to better, more informed, and more just decisions? This working group is tasked with identifying the roots of judicial inconsistencies and proposing strategies through which these inconsistencies – and the racial inequities they create – are mitigated.
