Event Description: Join the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy for our “Carr in Conversation” series. This series will examine human rights issues both at home and abroad, bringing in a wide range of experts to participate in these discussions to help better understand these challenges and how to address them.
During this conversation, Dr. Hannah Teicher and Professor Jacqueline Bhabha will explore the intersection of climate change and migration. They will examine how extreme weather events and slow onset impacts such as drought and sea level rise often contribute to migration and displacement. They will discuss how climate-related relocation is growing, and how it can be adaptive rather than perpetuating or even heightening the vulnerability of displaced populations. They will also discuss the emerging trend of corporate climate migration – how businesses relocate in response to climate risks – and how these shifts impact economic opportunities for communities affected by climate change.
Preregistration for this event is required. This event is only open to HUID holders.
