At the Harvard Center for International Development (CID), we believe in a future where every person can succeed, contribute, and thrive. We are committed to move beyond poverty to a world that delivers maximum value for all.
A New Model of International Development
From rural farmers to urban entrepreneurs, the voices and talents of local leaders are driving sustainable and inclusive development around the world. At CID, our research is grounded in the realities of those on the front lines, and our collaborations with local communities ensure that evidence-backed solutions are tailored to their unique challenges and aspirations.
Whether it's empowering local leaders through education, fostering partnerships that strengthen communities, or facilitating dialogue with practitioners across the world, we believe that by investing in people, we can solve tomorrow’s challenges together.
But we can’t do it alone. Your support is vital to advancing this mission.
Why Your Contribution Matters
Your gift helps us to:
- Build the next generation of leaders: We teach current and future generations of leaders to think critically about development in the classroom and through experiential learning, and we support emerging researchers at every stage of their career to become the changemakers of tomorrow.
- Convene leading experts in development: Your support enables us to bring together doers and thinkers from academia, government, the private sector, civil society, and philanthropy to share knowledge, debate ideas, and drive new research.
- Deploy breakthrough research: We catalyze new research collaborations and conduct rigorous studies in partnership with organizations around the world to generate evidence and apply solutions to pressing development issues worldwide.
Together, we can create lasting impact by turning knowledge into action and investing in global talent to solve the world's most pressing issues. Whether it’s funding research that drives social and environmental progress, or supporting initiatives that build stronger, more resilient communities, your gift is an investment in a brighter future for all.
The work at CID is made possible by the generous support of our Global Development Council, organizations, and foundations who also believe in a world where all can thrive.
2024 Annual Letter
In academic year 2023-24, we focused on building, convening, and deploying talent to address global challenges. Supported by our network of faculty, students, and scholars, and connected to experts in over 115 countries, CID bridges the gap between research and practice in international development.
