Peter Kearns is the Director of Finance and Operations at the Harvard Center for International Development. Peter joined Harvard in 2019, as the Assistant Director of Finance at the Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD), a research program in CID that conducts development economics research, training, and policy outreach to enable better policies worldwide.
At CID, Peter oversees all administrative and financial activities including FP&A, long-term strategic planning, implementation of new initiatives, and Human Resources. Peter leads award negotiations and grant management, provides financial strategy related to CID's research portfolio, and supervises financial and technical deliverables.
Prior to joining CID, Peter worked in finance and grants management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in two different research centers and offices: The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab and MIT Open Learning Center. At MIT, Peter was responsible for sponsored grant management, pre- and post-award financial analysis and reporting, strategic project budgeting and projections, project management, managing sponsor relations, and compliance on federal and non-federal awards.
